Fire-fighting demonstrations will be one of the main attractions at the Pringle Bay Fire Station on Saturday 5 November. The Pringle Bay & Betty’s Bay Volunteer Fire Fighters are hosting an open day in order to raise awareness around wildfires.

The Greater Overberg Fire Protection Association (goFPA) will also have a presence at the day, to encourage landowners and property owners to practice integrated fire management on their properties.

Aside from fire-fighting displays, visitors will be able to enjoy fire truck rides, a foam party, kiddies activities and other exhibitions. Wine tasting, food stalls and a snake display will also keep crowds entertained.

According to Louise Wessels, Manager of the goFPA, community groups like volunteer fire-fighting organisations play a vital role in supporting fire management.

“Community organisations are perfectly placed to coordinate donations and support for fire-fighters during big fires. So this open day offers wonderful opportunities to better develop these systems to encourage food, drink and other donations at fires.”

The open day takes place between 9am and 3pm at the Pringle Bay Fire Station, on Saturday 5 November.
